A Letter from the Board

Greetings,

As we anticipate a new year and reflect on the past year, we want to update you on what God is accomplishing in the city of York through Tidings of Peace Christian School. We appreciate your support, prayers, and interest in this ministry. Because of you, we can serve families in York by offering hope through Christian education. TOPCS is in the second school year of the newly remodeled building. We are thankful to God and very appreciative of those who contributed time and resources to make this a reality.
The potential at TOPCS for the Kingdom of God is incredible. The ruler of the kingdom of darkness is also aware of the potential and is waging a spiritual war to bring discouragement, distraction, and difficulty. Growing pains, relational challenges, misunderstandings, program readjustments, student challenges, ongoing operating deficits, and subsequent budget cuts all pile up to form an overwhelming mountain. But we are not surrendering after witnessing the supernatural hand of God in the past—being assured He will show Himself strong in the future. We are convinced that God is bigger than any mountain, and we praise Him for the determination of the staff, the administration, and the School Board to stay the course.
Recently, the school applied for 501(c)(3) status. It usually takes a few months for the review and approval process. We applied as an integrated auxiliary of the traditional Anabaptist church constituency in PA and surrounding states.
Over the years, we have moved from a sole administrator-type structure to an admin team. The staff and support team has also increased in numbers. The school board has been gradually transitioning from a founding-type board to a standard governing-type board to provide strong leadership to the organization. Our vision includes continuing the work and vision of Brother Clayton in coming alongside families in need of hope and assisting parents in their God-given responsibility of raising children. The primary emphasis is to provide Christ-centered education to children in the city of York and an opportunity for community involvement in the program and activities of the school.
Mentoring is essential as we endeavor to integrate it with the academic program and provide connections outside of school hours with caring and concerned individuals. Providing valuable life and vocational skills is a goal that will offer exceptional opportunities for the students. The Hope Tech program is still in the works for the future as God provides resources for the facility. Please join us in prayer that God will "do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think."
Academics is a platform to influence young lives for Jesus. Worthy examples and role models who are dedicated and embrace biblical values are valuable assets in the school setting. TOPCS is incredibly blessed to have staff with high values who facilitate a teaching environment harmonizing love and structure for the students. Our goal is to continue upholding Anabaptist values. The all things of the Great Commission will continue to be taught and promoted.
It is all about the children! Jesus took an interest in children, and we desire to do the same for of such is the Kingdom of God. The secret of Jesus' vision, mission, and work schedule was seeking the Father's instructions and the strength to follow them. Likewise, we must pursue our Father's vision and instructions for the school with the ultimate goal of bringing Him glory.
The following quote from George Muller is an outstanding vision that can be applied to TOPCS. "When I began the Orphan work in 1835, my chief object was the glory of God, by giving a practical demonstration as to what could be accomplished simply through the instrumentality of prayer and faith, in order thus to benefit the Church at large, and to lead a careless world to see the reality of the things of God, by showing them in this work, that the living God is still, as 4000 years ago, the living God." Thank you for joining us in the work of God for His glory at TOPCS!
